Ateliers

At Europa Cantat Junior, singing together is at the heart of everything – choirs from across Europe gather in ateliers to share music and joy. It’s a chance to make new friends through the power of singing. Each atelier leader has designed a special program for the festival, tailored to different levels, musical styles, and age groups. Over the course of the event, singers will work on these programs and bring them to life in a final concert on the last day.

And the Land Sang Back

The land is not passive. It remembers, it resonates, and it responds.
In which atelier will my choir sing?
When registering, you will have to select three ateliers (first, second, and third choice) that match your group’s age range, level, voices, and interests. Choirs with boys whose voices have changed can choose among three specific ateliers. The allocation of ateliers will be handled by the festival organizers, who will do their best to give each choir one of their three choices. Voice balance, age profile, and diversity of nationalities will also be considered.
Keep in mind the difficulty
Level A is the easiest and requires no prior preparation; any choir can take part. Level B has a medium level of difficulty, suitable for choirs that usually sing in two or three voices, and requires partial preparation of the repertoire. Level C is the most advanced and requires choirs to prepare the entire atelier repertoire in advance.
Consider dividing your group
If your choir doesn’t fit entirely into one atelier, consider dividing it into several ateliers. The experience will be more enriching for the singers, and you will take home twice the repertoire and twice as many new friendships. Most ateliers will take place in the city centre, within a short walking distance. However, each subgroup must have a responsible adult at all times.
What about the age?
All ateliers include a recommended age range (age at the beginning of the festival), and most of the choir should fall within that range. Exceptions may be considered, provided they involve only a small number of singers in the group. If the actual ages of your singers, when we request their data, do not match the age range indicated in the initial registration, the organizers reserve the right to assign your choir to a different atelier. Please contact us if you have any questions or are unsure whether your choir fits a particular atelier.
