Carrie Tennant is the founder and Artistic Director of the Vancouver Youth Choir, a choral organization serving over 700 singers from age 5 -25. As one of the most active and highly regarded youth choirs in North America, VYC fosters a unique community of diverse, committed, skilled young musicians who learn and perform widely across not only traditional western music but directly with artists and composers from an extensive variety of Indigenous and international traditions.
Carrie is a sought-after adjudicator and guest conductor internationally, and curates three choral series: the “Vancouver Youth Choir Choral Series” (Cypress Publishing), the “Carrie Tennant Choral Series” (Hal Leonard), and the “Carrie Tennant Choral Series” (E.C. Schirmer). She is known for her creative programming; equally enthusiastic about great pop music, music from the traditional choral canon, cutting edge new works, and folk music from around the world.
